YorOK
The aim of Yor OK! is to get services to work together to provide better outcomes for children and young people in the City of York. Here, you’ll find lots of information about the services that are there for you and your child.
Children’s Centres in York
Children’s Centres are places where children under five years old and their families can go to get services in their local area. They offer a huge range of support including childcare, parenting, family support services and much more.
York CAB
The Citizens Advice Bureau in York is free, confidential and independent. York CAB offers a comprehensive advice and representation service which means that you can ask any question about your situation or concerns and they will do their best to offer you the advice and support you need. If they can’t help you they will find someone who can.
Castlegate
Castlegate is a confidential information, advice, support and counselling service for young people aged 16 – 25 in the city of York. You might be worried about money, finding somewhere to live, sexual health or being kicked out of home. You might be feeling stressed or worried and want to talk to somebody. You may need advice or guidance on career, work and learning options or maybe there is something going on in your life that’s upsetting you. Perhaps you just need a small piece of information or a leaflet about something. All you need to do is call in to the drop-in session at Castlegate.
Dads Group (Heworth & Tang Hall)
A friendly group for dads in the Heworth/Tang Hall area that meets at Heworth Family Centre. Bring your children and join in for a free Saturday morning breakfast. There are activities and games for children and a chance to meet other dads. For details, contact Sandra Newsham on 01904 551250.
SNAP
A friendly group for single parents (mums or dads) that meets at New Earswick Children’s Centre. It meets every last Friday of the month at 1.30pm for a relaxed informal chat and to share experiences. If you have a child under five, take them along to play. Parents with children over five are welcome too. Once the group has been established, they hope to invite guest speakers to talk about issues of interest.

North Yorkshire Credit Union is an independent, not-for-profit financial co-operative, owned and controlled by its members. It is one of more than 500 credit unions in the UK and 43,000 worldwide. Credit unions offer savings and great value loans plus they are local, ethical and know what their members want.
Independent Domestic Abuse Services
IDAS is a charity that provides comprehensive support services to all those experiencing or affected by domestic abuse. We work throughout York, Hambleton and Richmondshire and have links with other specialist domestic abuse services throughout North Yorkshire. Formerly York Women’s Aid, IDAS now provides support to male victims of abuse as well as women.
Young People’s Survival Guide to York
This website is the online version of the printed Young People’s Survival Guide to York. The Survival Guide is a useful little book full of things you might need to know or make decisions about. It also has places you might need to contact for help or advice.
GIMI
